IPL Laser or photofacial is a noninvasive, no-downtime procedure to correct virtually any superficial blemish. Rosacea, sun damage, freckles, age spots and acne are no match for this rejuvenating treatment. By using nonerosive light, a photofacial addresses damaged skin tissue or hyperpigmentation without harming healthy cells, allowing patients to resume their daily activities immediately. If you are looking for a refreshed appearance and healthy skin with no downtime, a photofacial may be the perfect option.
A photofacial is also called intense pulsed light (IPL). This is different from a laser, which only uses one wavelength of light. Instead, a photofacial uses what’s called broad-spectrum light, which reaches multiple layers of skin. It is applied with brief flashes, sometimes up to 2 or 3 on a single treatment area.
When the light flashes, it warms the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, as well as collagen growth underneath the skin. These two factors allow photofacials to address both the outermost surface of the skin as well as the tissues beneath it. This multi-faceted approach makes your skin look younger, smoother and more voluminous.
